A little twinkle...

I have a little story to tell. It has a lot of things that girls like. Sparkle...accessories/jewelry...

and a butterfly=0) About twenty years ago I was walking around Nordstrom. I couldn't afford anything too fancy, but I loved just looking around. I worked in the mall, so it was super fun to listen to the piano player during my lunch hour. Yes...they had a piano player=0)

So one day I was looking around and a sparkle caught my eye. There were TONS of gorgeous butterfly hair clips/bobby pins on display. I thought I was going to die. The colors were just SOOO

beautiful and I had to have one. I wanted them all, but I could barely afford one. I ended up picking a gorgeous red butterfly clip by Tarina Tarantino and boy did I wear that hair clip. Even after all these years it still looks beautiful and I love to attach it to sweaters and sometimes in my hair. SO, the other day my daughter was looking at it and asking me where I got it and could she have it. I'm not so sure she wouldn't lose it in 2.5 seconds =0/ So, I thought I could just paint one for her room. And she seems to be happy with being able to look at it all the time. A little twinkle goes a long way around my house=0)

Me-Not yet honey. Maybe when you are older. I don't think I'd be able to find another one.

J-awwww....okay=0(

Me-One day I promise to give it to you, so don't worry. How about I paint one for your room?

J-OH...oh...that's a good idea. 

Me-GREAT.

J-Please do it right now. Can I watch?

Me-I have too much stuff to do right now, but I'll start soon.

J-awwwww. Don't forget mama. Don't paint other fashion stuff. Do mine first.

Me-I will honey.

Back to reality

HOLA SWEET CHEEKS.

I have returned to the real world=0)

We were in northern California for a whole week visiting friends and family.

Okay...let me just tell you...we had a great time.

First thing I did was to visit my favorite bakery and get a BIG OL' burnt almond cake.

YUM. If you are EVER in San Jose...YOU MUST. They even sell it by the slice, if you want a nibble.

I got to catch up in person with some of my closest girlfriends and you know how good that is for the soul. LOVE all the laughs and sisterhood.

We also did A LOT of swimming and we went up to San Francisco for a day. It was totally freezing, but the aquarium and lunch was fantastic.

 I did get a chance to sketch a little on the plane and I thought I'd give you a little peek. 

I'm starting to think up my new designs for my compact mirrors. Is there anything special you'd like to see? Let me know=0)

What's in a sketch

I've been sketching away on something new.

A new sketch that has taken MANY hours=0) 

I'm really trying to make sure that everything looks good. 

LOL.

Usually, I spend more time painting. I started wondering what would happen if I spent more time on the sketch itself. Will it look different? Hmmmm....

X-You have to talk to my teacher about the merit badges.

Me-Merit badges?

X-YES. That I'm SO close to getting my NO KIDS MEAL badge.

Me-..........

X-I only have FIVE more adult meals at a restaurant.

Me-Hmmm...then what happens?

X-I get my badge.

Me-.........

X-We are going on a field trip and they are ordering EVERYONE kid's meals. I can't get one. I CAN'T.

Me-When is the field trip? 

X-In two weeks.

Me-If you get this....merit badge before then...THEN can you get a kid's meal?

X-NO...I hate kid's meals.

Me-None of this makes sense to me.

X-You have to email my teacher and ask her to order me an adult meal.

Me-Lets talk to dad about all this.

X-UGGHHHH.... I already told you that YOU'RE THE BOSS. Dad knows this already.

Hope you had a fun and warm weekend=0)

I was able to sketch a little over the weekend. We had gone to see a butterfly exhibit(weekend before) and I was thrilled when they take your photo. ALL of us in one picture...COME ON. So exciting and I was trying my best to look natural and not smile too much....or look like a pirate. When we picked up the photo my husband said he wasn't sure if he wanted to get it. I was like...it's got ALL of us in it. We grabbed it and paid WAY too much for everything, but I was pretty jazzed. 

O....KAAYYY.

I finally thought I'd LOOK at it and when I saw it...LOL...LOL...LOL...

The kids faces. Bunny ears. Just craziness. Attitude.

At that moment my husband and I looked at each other and said it was worth EVERY penny for that "family photo" that I just HAD to buy.

LOL...LOL...LOL.

So last night I did a quick sketch of my little one and of course her brother stuck his fingers in the mix=0) I ended up making a little bookmark. 

Isn't that just too funny?

Me-You don't have to. I'm just picking up avocados and they are on their front porch.

X-I can just wait in the car.

Me-Yes.

X-I might die without air in the car.

Me-I'm just going to walk up to the door and turn around and come back. I'm not going inside, otherwise you'd HAVE to come with me.

X-UGh...whose house.

Me-The McP's.

X-OMG...I want to get out and see T. Can we make time to just play a little bit and maybe play his Wii? Can we? Mama...CAN WE?
